Our Story

Hi we are Davide and Lorenzo, the founders of Fucibo, and we tell you that eating products with insect meal is not (just) a fad.

By now the unsustainability of the system by which we produce and consume food is there for all to see. According to United Nations sources by 2050 there will be about 10 billion human beings on the planet. And 2050 is very close. If we go on like this, by that year we will have to produce 70 percent more meat, according to FAO data.

This is simply impossible.

Intensive livestock farming means extensive farming to produce the feed. This is enough to understand the size of the problem.

Other than fashion.

Being Italian is an ongoing challenge.

Everyone always expects the best, a continuous explosion of beauty and creativity, technique and techniques, good taste and incredible flavors in the kitchen. Great dishes, great culinary tradition, the best ingredients and lots of wisdom, the art of making that is passed down through generations in families.

The world is interconnected, incredible new ingredients arrive from the four corners of the planet to merge with others they never had anything to do with before, just like peoples, just like people. We need to quickly find alternative sources of protein that are sustainable for the environment.

This awareness and love of nature triggered our interest in edible insects: very rich in protein, easy to raise, low environmental impact, ideal for the development of the circular economy. The perfect solution, we told ourselves.

Insects are not considered a food

We know this well because we have tasted them all.

It's a stereotype, like saying that Italy at the table is just pizza and pasta. We don't like stereotypes and clichés, so we took on the challenge of starting to produce great Italian food using insect powder as one of the ingredients.

Yes, crazy you might think, and actually we thought so too before we actually did it. We also knew that more is expected of an Italian food-company than normal, so we studied and worked hard to get to the results we set out to achieve

We produce out of passion

We produce using high-quality, organic and sustainable ingredients. We have our eyes open to the future but our feet planted in tradition. The authentic and sincere one.

We produce to revolutionize the world of food and defeat clichés, like novel Don Quixotes with a fork in rest.
